Service B5

Just have a quick question about what exactly service B5 is. I have a 08 C350 at about 23,500 miles, and the service message for service B5 comes up. I know what is required at service B, but I have no idea what the 5 that is attached with it means.

.

My service book here in Australia says to have a B service every 50,000 km ( 32,000 miles ) or every 2 years.

So I would guess as you have a 08 car & that you only have done 23,000 miles therefore this is your second B service.

At 23,000 miles you have not had 4 B services so I would ask the dealer to reset the service computer when you take it in.

Hmmm - that was interesting. Either the cars sold down under are tougher, or MBZ thinks their US consumers are more gullible. The 2012 US service book shows a B service every 10,000 miles (not 32,000) OR once a year for lower mileage vehicles. OP's car was a 2008 and his post was 2012, so the B5 service was probably correct.
