I had some kind of short in my tail light. I need to replace the gray plastic part that holds the bulbs. Also need a new connector clip that is connected to the wire harness that goes into the tail light. Any help would be great! Thanks!

i believe #4 is the plastic piece that holds the bulbs.

Yes that would be the piece. Now what about the wire harness clip / or the whole harness that plugs into it?

I was at the dealer for another tail light issue and talked with one of the part guys. Basically I was told that fusing/melting of the connector to the gray back plate is a common issue and they replace them on a regular basis. You can buy the black 7-pin connector and the metal pieces that go inside it only (not the wire) otherwise you are looking at a harness replacement.

Get the parts, snip the cable close to the old black connector, strip the wires, attach each metal piece (solder or crimp) to each cable and reconnect in same order to the new black connector.

Yes that does!! Thank you very much. Just what I needed to know. I was thinking I needed to replace the whole wire harness. So I can get just the black connector from my local MB dealer correct?
