went to install my k/n filters and found theres a charcoal looking secondary filter in the box that sits right ontop of the primary filters, do you guys remove these secondary filters?

I don't have charcoal filters, but I have heard many C63 owners removed the charcoals to gain power.

yea i just read a thread on c63's having them. I have a 2011 c300. what i have noticed is that my rental 2009 c300 had a smaller airbox as well......and it also did not have the charcoal filters. hmmmmmmm this seems interesting, i guess its ok to remove the filters? for those who have them removed, do you remove just the filter or the housing that the filter sits in? i looked but did not see if that housing comes out.

Whay som of them have the filters and others dont have ???
When you remove them and insert the K&N you will feal the difrance in sound and hp (i think not more then 5-6 hp)
