Cigarette lighter

Recently purchased a certified 09 C350. The other day my fiance tried to charge her phone with the cigarette lighter but no power was delivered. I figured it may just not supply the necessary power. Well I tried to use the actual lighter to test it out. Nothing.

Today I pulled out the fuse in the trunk and sure enough it was blown so replaced it with another 15 amp fuse and my radar detector now works.

Even though I dont smoke when I push the cigarette lighter down it doesnt stay in the locked position and then pop back up when it has been warmed. Isnt it supposed to?

If I push the lighter down and hold it there it will get warm.

These guys don't understand what you posted (it was worded poorly).

I believe you are saying that the power now works, but the lighter does not remain in position long enough to warm up. It must be held down to warm up.

That most likely means you just have a bad lighter. Does your phone charge now?

Certainly do not put a 20 amp fuse if it is designed for a 15. That would only make a problem that blows a 15 amp fuse worse. You could in theory cause a car fire.
