Play Ipod touch with AUX Video

Play Ipod touch with AUX Video
Hello,
Could someone please help me with this... I have a 2012 C350 from Canada with the premium package which includes the multimedia interface (has the 3x cords for ipods, audio, usb in the center console)
I would like to play videos in the car through my Ipod touch or a USB flash drive but when ever I go to the AUX video screen nothing appears. Does anyone know how to fix this? Can Ipod's play videos through the AUX, or which file format should the USB be in?
I have tried playing a DVD and that works fine in the DVD mode. I just get a black screen in AUX all the time.
