Hi MBWorld,

I'm relatively new the MB and I JUST finished retrofitting my 2011 w204 with a 2009 comand HU. was wondering if there is such thing as a firmware update? kind of like how ios 5--> ios6 type of thing. or is it just strictly updating the map version to v10?

there is both map and firmware update for the command.

how would i proceed to get a firmware update? do i need to get a firmware update prior to the map update?

If your car is under warranty MB will do it for free, not sure how it works since you did the retro yourself. Haven't heard any prices for people getting it done out of warranty. I'm curious about that myself.

yea my car is under warranty, but since i retro'd it, i dont think its covered under warranty

Best shot is probably going in and asking how much it'd be to get the update. Post the quote here if you do that too, I'm curious since my closest dealer is 2.5 hours away

My command was updated yesterday free of charge and couldn't be happier and what a big difference from the old one. They said it will cost 2-3 hours of work + the new Nav. disk cost if it will be done on out of warranty cars. I think you are forced to get a updated map disk as they will reformat the entire software and everything will be erased as I have to redo all of my phone setup and contacts back. So if the cost of the service is $155 per hour X 3 + $+/-250 for the map disk = $+/-715 + tax which is a very expensive software update.

Is the update free for those cars with a CPO warranty? I recently purchased a car that has the Original warranty vailid until feb. then the CPO warranty just wondering if I dont get it updated by then if it will still be covered.

Nevermind I think i found the answer that it is only available under og factory warranty.

Also I think i have the latest version at least i have the birds eye view, the block feature and analog clock etc.

What model years have the online command version?
