I have a brand new..900 miles on it C300 2013. I synced my phone an it works fine...the text message is not grayed out anymore but when a text comes in it doesn't let me read it. I tried my phone on my friends ML350 2012 and it works..I have turned on notifications under bluetooth...I'm not sure why his 2012 would work but my 2013 wouldn't.

Can someone help me...do I need to go to mercedes and complain? I am going to complain tomorrow...it should be the same even though I don't have navigation.

I am assuming you have an iPhone.


Just first make sure you follow all the steps with iPhone :

1 - remove iPhone from command.
2 - remove mb command from iPhone.
3 - repair iPhone with command
4 - on the phone, turn on notifications under setting/Bluetooth/messages
5 - on the phone, turn on notification when lock(bottom option) under settings/notifications/messages, and choose to show as a banner in the first option on the same screen. (Note this is different from step 4).

Thanks for the help...I have done that literally 10 times...still not working.

I am going to raise hell at mercedes tomorrow...if it works in one model it should work in all of them...even of I don't have the navigation command or multimedia.

Do you have access to another phone? Like a blackberry or so? Try another one than you can rule out a problem with your phone settings.
Btw, only messages received while your phone is connected to the car will show on the screen. The old messages already on the phone won't show.

I had a loaner the other day...I didn't work in the loaner either...I think it's because the system isn't updated to sync with Ios6...because if it works on a 2012 it should work on a 2013.
