Location of engine number?

I have the first registration inspection tomorrow . Can any tell me the location of the engine number ?.

Normally it is stamped low down on the block.

The location can be found by looking in the owner's manual, I think in the back by specifications, or tecnical section.

The details are on a small aluminium plate in the trunk of the car. (At least for Australian models)

Hello Jim,

The plate in the boot shows the Vin number .

The pink slip mechanic did not bother looking at the engine number as he said at 66,000 km it was unlikely that I had changed it or had a cut & shut

When doing the next oil change I will find it at the bottom of the block I think.

Interesting to see another Pug enthuiast on the MB site
