Dealership Benefits

Hi, I have purchased a privately sold C300 4MATIC, originally bought from the local dealership. The dealership seems to refuse benefits on the car even though it was originally purchased there, saying they just don't have the "man power" or something. This is our third Mercedes, and all have been originally from them, two brand new. What do you guys think on this?

Which "benefits" are being refused.

Services such as setting up the garage door opener, mobile car wash, etc, which are all complimentary on our other cars.

I'm not suprised they won't do it since you didn't buy that one from them (even though it came from there orginally.) However since you are a repeat customer of theirs it would be a good opportunity to WOW you with great customer service....

If the C300 is still under warranty, the MB dealer (ANY MB dealer actually) will have to deal with something sometime. Maybe at the next "A" service there you will be treated more like a "customer".

The "local" MB dealer here offers fantastic service, unfortunately its 300 kms away. Reading the manual cover to cover (and in my case, in two languages as something gets lost in the translation from German), makes the W204 owner self-sufficient and more educated about his vehicle, so that when a bigger service item comes up, he can defend his requests about his warranty or the car's performance. Highly recommended, referencing the Owners Manual first.

+1.

Did you let them know that you had purchased 2 MBs directly from them? And that, if this is the type of customer service they offer, you're happy to spend your money elsewhere for your fourth MB?

My SA knew who I was, and I told him it was absurd, and said goodbye. I guess we'll see what happens when I take it in for service, I'll try to ask them for a favor and let's see how that goes.

Oh. My salesperson helped me programming, so I don't know if that's something that the service people are called upon to do very often. And *were* they actually swamped? At my last service, they had 10 cars waiting in line, so they really *wouldn't* have had the manpower for something like that.

But, yes, I think that trying it again when you take in the car for service might be a better indication of their attitude....

I would have mentioned that you are a repeat customer, and also notified them that you are happy taking your 3 vehicles to a different dealership from now on.

He isn't going to do that. He's just trying them on.

And we all know that you can't program the garage door openers anywhere but at home because the car must communicate with the opener.

RTFM.

my wife bananas! :D
pretty pathetic of that dealership tbh. setting up the garage door takes no time at all. and by giving you an excuse of not enough manpower is pretty weak.

sometimes a change of scenary is a good thing. stroll into another mb dealer if there is another one close, and talk with people there. they might want to win you over for future business and help you out now. an example of this is that i've been buying MB exclusively from one dealer for a decade... and when i went to buy my c63, they didnt provide me with the prices and services that i wanted. so i went to another dealership, told them my history and how i am unhappy with the original dealership and they stepped up. so now i have my c63 and have made new connections / relationships with another dealer.

on a side note, i've since moved and there is a local mb where i am now. walked in one day, talked with some of the reps / sa there to familiarize myself to them. right away, they told me i can bring in my car to be washed any time and any day i wanted, and offered their help to me should i require. I thanked them for the offer but told them i hand wash my own car
