Boost volume ( USB ) .
The reconversion into digital allows the application of the parametric equalizer and Surround sound manipulations by the HK 5.1 algorhythms. As I understand the topology, the digital signal is fed directly into the Class D amplifiers, or feeds the fiber optic cable to the subwoofer in the HK. This conversion process works very well actually, this A to D reconversion is sonically transparent and does no degradation to the sound.
The iPod Integration Kit unfortunately attenuates the signal by about 12 dB due to an engineering error, therefore an iPod amplifier restoring this loss is required in these installations.
The USB, unfortunately, as well as Bluetooth, stays in the digital domain and has fewer options for volume increase (no Boost). So the volume may be lower depending on the quality of the MP3 conversion. Apple Lossless format tunes may reproduce at the same level as a CD. Bluetooth is not recommended for music, perhaps for podcasts as another contributor has pointed out.
So no solution here. I do not know if the SD card readers also have this volume problem, can anyone provide some feedback on their SD experience?
