Ground on hid ballast

Got the girly some canbus hids for her car for chrimbo and tried to fit them today

two things struck out, no size drill suggestion for the rubber grommet hole and the ballast mount part has a ground seperate wire?

I've never seen a ballast with a need for ground and obviously the supplier is on christmas break

Any ideas of a usual rubber size grommet drill bit and do ballasts need grounds/earths?

Usually its 1 inch for the grommet. As for ground wiring...I've never heard of it either.

I'm not sure why there was a ground but I didn't use it and all was okay.

The hole was eventually done at 3/4 because the inner ring of the grommet was at 3/4. Had I drilled it at 1 inch the grommet would have fallen straight through. and given my skills there was always a chance I would screw it up

Thankfully the hids were on the mrs mercedes and it has earned me enough brownie points to go fat biking tommorow

thanks for the input chaps
