iPod - iPhone cable help ... please!

I really thought it was simple, but then I'm finding out...not so. I know this subject has been discussed a lot, but the more I search the forum, the less info I find and the more confused I get. Please forgive me for posting yet more questions.

First:

As I posted, I have a 2010 C300 Sports. P1 and MM packages. In my glove box there are two cables. a 1/8 inch jack plug, for MP3 players, and a 30 pin iPod/iPhone cable (about a foot long). Since I got an iPhone 5, I got the converter from the 30 to 8 pin.

Now, I plugged my iPhone to the cable and just like power socket, it started charging the phone. HOWEVER...I cannot play any songs from my iPhone on the Command system, form the phone hard drive or Spotify streaming! I don't even know WHERE I can find my phone in the Audio port on Command. I thought it might be under AUX, but it is not, as I cannot get to that part of the menu, it is just grayed out and unavailable. This is about the music and audio part only.

Am I missing a step? Am I missing a cable? Did I misunderstand what iPod integration mean?

Second:

What kind PCMCIA adapter should I get? MB from the dealer or one from eBay? What kind of media should I get for the PCMCIA adapter? Does SDHC work? Is there a capacity limit? I read it was 2 GB, then I saw 8 GB, and then I saw 32 GB! I don't want to find out by trial and error, and I'd rather ask you guys to make better informed decisions.

I am really sorry for any repetition I have done, but any help is very highly appreciate it.

Thank you all in advance

I think it was 8 but then there was a software update that upped it to 32 I think I read in the PCMCIA thread but I think that update is only for 08-09 yours is fine? And in that thread it had a list of brands that worked also I think that info is also in the owner manual cause I think some one posted a pic

Thank you Storm. I tried that and I get a message saying "No device is connected". I am wondering if it is an iPhone 5 issue! But, the phone is charging as it were plugged in.

I am baffled

It's black. The converter cable (30 pin to 8) is white.

Thanks again, Storm. It may very well need a new one. I am going to have the dealer look at it and replace it if it needs to be.

Hey Storm,

Just an update. It seems the converter that I have, which is NOT Apple, is good for charging only and does not carry audio. Upon buying an Apple brand 30 to 8 pins converter, things couldn't be smoother since it carries audio, and everything is working fine now.

Both cables look exactly the same, but I guess I should have never bought an imitation cable, eh?

iPod Cable Connection

Question I have the Command System with a Black iPod Cable in the glove box.

I have an iPhone 4S that I purchased a few months ago. I never used the iPod Cable connection since I purchased the vehicle.

I attached the iPhone to the cable in the glove box. The phone did not charge or show on the Command System.

Show the Command System be in a particular mode for the phone to charge or show on the screen?
