HK Surround System Sounds "strange"

2008 C300 with Nav and HK Surround. Had the car for a year now and always thought the music has way too much vibrato and reverb.

Speakers and sub are decent, music is excellent but just seems "tinny" or again like it's "wavy" as in added vibrato.

Turing off Surround helps a little but that added dimension is still there that to me is annoying. Not "pure" music but artificially added enhancements.

Anyone else feel this way, or possibly something wrong with my system?

I have an 08 C300 w/ HK as well. It is, without a doubt, the best sounding stock system I've heard. Sounds like something may be slightly off. Could the right (or left) speakers be delivering sound slightly before/after the left (or right) speakers? I could see this causing a strange "wave" effect. Don't know if that's even possible, either. All I know is that mine sounds phenomenal.

I also have the HK system and I agree with the above post that it sounds phenomenal. As for the reverberation, I would check to make sure that all of the speakers are in phase with each other. The other possibility would be an excess of wiring to one or more speakers, thus causing a delay, but I can't imagine that even the most inexperienced modifier would do something like that. If the car was wrecked (doors replaced, speakers in doors) or the factory head-unit was replaced and then re-installed by the previous owner, there's a possibility that the speaker wiring is out of phase (if the speaker wires were cut or modified).

Is this just from one source (e.g. iPod, radio, sat), or do you hear the reverberation from all sources?
