Demolished my 2009 C300 Key today. Its been acting up for a while now and didn't pay to much attention to the fact that there are pieces of the key inside moving around... Today I lost the function of my unlock button - literally nothing to press when you press unlock. Trunk button clicks but no function, same with luck, click and light but no function. Unlocked the car manually - alarm went off - stuck key in ignition thinking it would work - NOPE DEAD. Need a new key. Heading to the dealer tomorrow to see what I can do.. Per 1 local dealer its not covered under the CPO program SOL i guess. $250 is what I was quoted for a key. Any alternative suggestions? Seems like the motherboard inside is cracked or broken so buying a new shell doesnt seem like a solution..

I had one of my 08 keys crack and it was replaced with the newer style. Before I gotmthe dealer to comp the replacement cost- i was quoted $400 for a replacement so $250 doesn't sound too bad. Don't fall for those sites or ebay posts. Key have to be ordered for your car by the dealership using your Vin.
