Hi Project C.
Seems like it needs to be replaced every 2 years.
I thought I was getting ripped off, but I called 2 different dealers service department and they all said needs to be replaced every 2 years. hmm...
I dont have the service booklet with me as its in the service.

Hey man just check with C&C singapore and it seems they request owners to change the brake fluid every two years to protect the brake fluid pipes.
So just go ahead with their suggestions and you will never go wrong

Yeh.. Its KM in Australia.
Nah. I dont think I will do any mods. Perhaps maybe the rear camera but thats a maybe.
Its more like a weekend car so it doesnt get driven much.
2 years and only 13K Kms.

Yeh. I currently have the loan car from the dealer since its in service.
Got the 2012 C250 CDI. Its a beast actually. I didnt realize it had 500nm torque. Its nuts. Goes real quick.

Ok..
So Ive got the car back and I've got other issues now.
But first of all, getting back to the battery issue.
I find it hard to believe what the dealer was saying.
Apparently when they connected the car to their computer or what ever, they did find Low Volt faults. They asked me to leave the car for the night so that they could test it out. I didnt really mind as I had the new 250 CDI as loan car. A beast with 500nm of torque. lol.
Any how.. When I got back to dealer yesterday late afternoon, they said.. "Good news. We found the problem with the car. It was loaded with wrong/outdated front and rear SAM software." I was like, how is this even possible? I found it quite amusing that it was loaded with incorrect SAM software in the first place.
Regardless, they said they checked the battery and the health of it was good. So they gave it a good full charge overnight and it was now all good with it.
So I guess we will have to see if the battery will go flat again. If it does, return to the dealer.

Ok.. so after all this, I was driving the car back home, off we go on the freeway. Gosh.. as soon as I started hit over 70km/h, the car started to vibrate. Not from the handle, but from under the seat. Gradually when I started to hit near 100km/h, it was getting slightly worst.
You see, my dad thought it was good idea to get them to check the Park foot brake and get it adjusted.
I think they screwed up something there. Damn it! Cant they service any thing right on this car.
Gave the call to dealer as soon as I got back, and they asked me to bring it back first thing on monday morning. Ill bring it back on friday as I dont have the time to. The dealer was at least sounded sorry and said will sort the problem out no problems.
This is probably the worst experience I had with a car servicing.

Oh by the way.. Its Mercedes Melbourne city. I thought they were the best in melbourne. Haihz.

It's probably the wire hardness issue!!!
i had an encounter once when i did a full throttle pick up from traffic light , the CEL suddenly came out and the car start to shudder. i press the pedal to accelerate but it won't instead it shudder strong. i was force to pull to the side to do a restart ,the CEL goes off and im good to go.

2nd ~ when the car come to complete stop upon reaching junction or traffic light , downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear i will encounter a jotting or jerking seems annoying to me. it was like a sudden stop to the car and i had it often.

i was told by Vath Singapore it was wire hardness issue.
Can anybody pls help here.

Woow.. Nah, I dont think thats the problem.
It doesnt shudder or to a point where it feels unsafe.
It feels like as if wheel is out of balance or something.
But they said they had to pull all the brake parts out to adjust the park brake.
Also, brake fluids were changed as well so who knows.
They might have also rotated the wheels as well and didnt bother balancing them before hand.
Ill find out on friday any way.. Hopefully its not that wire hardness issue.

Well this is thursday and I just test drove the car and it seems like the vibration has disappeared. I'm just thinking it may have been something to do with brakes. Went on the freeway, 100km/h, 90 80 and back 100, did little bit of 110 and 120, nothing. Now it seems like every thing is in place and is normal. I cannot reproduce it. Kind of pointless to bring it back to the dealer.
The batt is going strong even after 3 days of not using it. So thats a good sign. They must have fixed the problem on that part.

One thing I want to ask all the Australian guys here though, I paid $1346 for this service.
It included normal B check service which had ;
6 liters of MB genuine oil 229.5, cabin
cabin filter change
w/screen additive
seal washer
plus brake fluid change
and cabin air conditioner sanitiser?

Any way.... does this price looks ok to you guys?
Cause other wise, next time Ill have to ring up other MB dealers to get better prices.

Brake fluid change every 2 years seems to be consevative. A 1998 Audi A4 Quattro, and a 2004 Mazda6 sedan, both V6's, did not specify any Brake Fluid interval in their owners manuals or factory repair manuals. I changed the brake fluid in these cars every 3-4 years.

Hello Joe,

I can't comment on the price as I have done my own services since new .

My MB aproved oil cost $11/ litre, engine oil filter $32 from the dealer, cabin air filters from Autohous USA $43 ea ,brake fluid $8 per 500ml....so you get the idea.Labour is the big cost.

I think it would be an excellent idea to recieve quotes for A & B services. I know that an A service here on the Mid North Coast is $420 .

An alternative is to find a top knotch independant MB workshop & build a relationship with them. If there is one in your area you should save some $.

Sorry to hijack a bit, but I just bought a 2012 C200 with the vision pack and am shocked at the quoted figure for the service.

I have previously used a BMW and Mercedes specialist for my old E46 but it was out of warranty. The dealer used to charge $500 for a basic service and the specialist about $220.

Carsy: in servicing yourself have you had any dramas with dealers when it comes to warranty items etc?

I love the Peugeot 504 btw, awesome cars.

I bought the car with the understanding that I could service it myself whilst under warranty. Of course if I made a mistake like leaving the sump plug loose or did not use the required MB filter, I would void the warranty.

Nice car Sergtov but those hills need some rain !!

Our old 504 lasted 30 years , served all the kids, did 450,000 km, was almost original & never had the head removed. The MB has yet to prove itself !!

All the best.

I am in Melbourne too. Do you notice any vibration through the gear lever at about 100km/h or around that. I need to ask the dealer to check it out. I am expecting everything should be smooth in a Merc.

Those hills absolutely needed rain that day! That photo was taken at the Gundagai lookout on the day all the fires were up. We had had to detour through Wogga to bypass the Tarcutta fire.. The winds were ferocious and the temperature pushing 48.... never seen conditions like it, absolutely diabolical.

Great work with the 504! Amazing. Are you on the 'aussiefrogs' forum?
