Removing Negative Battery Terminal

Hi guys, for removing the negative battery terminal, i just use a 10mm socket and remove the clamp in the picture below, correct? I loosened the 10mm nut but couldn't get the clamp off... Any ideas? I don't know if i'll electrocut myself if i touch the negative battery. Help appreciated!

i've usually just tapped it with a light tack hammer to induced rotation, which
should allow it to be pried off. or, see if your neighbor has one of these

Thanks! Should i remove the 10mm nut or just loosen it? I'm afraid it might fall off if i tap the clamp with a hammer or something... Will i get electrocuted if my fingers touch the nut?

Fayte,

You only need to loosen the nut not remove it .

Best not to tap the terminal too hard .

Just gently rotate the terminal clamp with a pair of plyers say.

You will not be electrocuted.

Beware when removing the positive terminal clamp not to touch the cars metal fittings with the metal tool as it will conduct a very large amount of current & spark dramatically possibly damaging the battery terminal ,your eyes & if you are very unlucky causing a hydrogen gas explosion.

Google 'removing battery terminal clamps' for a complete picture.

Nobody can be electrocuted by 12V.
