services advised for my c300 42000miles
Took my car in for manager's special $99 oil change special. As usual they conducted the complimentary inspection and advised the following:
1) brake fluid flush: $140
2) tranny service : $390
3) Air cleaner insert: $130
Are these prices reasonable? What is air cleaner insert, are they talking about the air filter? Can someone provide me with the normal mileages to do the above services? Thx
also what is cam solenoid recall? This was also fixed.

I'm not too knowledgeable on pricing, but if that is just the engine air filter that seems high. The others seem close to normal. The transmission is recommended at 39k and the brake fluid every 2 years.

-- The car was not a CPO, it was purchased from a local dealer but originally the car was purchased from my local mercedes dealer and I took my car there for the oil change. They looked at the past service records and indicated that the tranny service was not done.
--- yeah I might just change the air filter myself. Is it difficult? From my understanding the only tool required is a torx t25 screwdriver. I have seen the filters online for 30 bucks. Can someone provide me with the instructions on how to do this?

There is a lot of information on these forums regarding the transmission service. Read up and make sure they are aware of draining the torque converter. My dealership quoted me $525, so $390 sounds reasonable. Again though, confirm they will change all 9 liters of ATF (assuming its an auto).
