Curious about small light...

Finding new, strange things every week on my new 2013 C250. If I move my hand near the rear view mirror, a very small amber light comes on that seems to have no real function...not bright enough to illuminate anything.??

Also, my rear view mirror use to display the compass reading, but hasn't done so for a week or more. I followed the directions on p.282 of the owners manual to get the display on to no avail. Anyone had this issue?

The small amber light is an ambient light which is pointless but thats how mb made it. As for the compass...call your dealer.

Are you sure? My car doesn't have an aux battery, and the hold feature certainly doesn't require such on my car.

Anyways, this has nothing to do with the OP's question. It's simply an ambient light.

I guess the amber ambient light is for eye stress relief during the night time drive. When I watch TV at night, I leave some lights on, feeling more comfortable that way.
I wish we can adjust the ambient light brightness to individual taste.

I seem to recall it was tied to the brightness of the dashboard? Maybe I'm wrong here as it's been a while but worth a check. You could always put a small bit of tint over that light
