Buying a used w204 C220 cdi 2008...
I'm very close to buying this car, but are there any common problems or simply things that I should know before doing this?
The vehicle has 170.000km/105.000miles.
Interior and exterior look nice, nothing looks faulty or roughed up.
Sorry if these types of questions get asked a lot, I just want some personal help.
Thanks.

Hello Shuup,
I have a late 2007 build 220CDI bought new.
I cannot offer advice on higher mileages.Ours has currently done 68,000 Km . It had a few very minor defects during the 3 year warranty eg rattles, trim replacement, a very slight rear seal leak on the auto gearbox ... all sorted .
I have not had any problems since coming out of warranty except a slight whine at times from the A/C . No one else on this site has the same problem so it is not common to the model.
We are very happy with the car , good comfort, mileage , balance between handling & ride & plenty of power & torque. The 5 speed auto suits the diesel torque.
If I wrote my 220 CDI off tomorrow I would have no hesitation in buying another.
Just make sure yours has an impecable service record, no accidents & have an independant mechanical check The auto trans needs servicing every 50,000 - 60,000 km .Make sure it has been done.
I reckon it is always a good idea to know the cars background & speak to the current owner on its history, use & why it is being sold.
Good luck & let us know how you go.

C220 CDI SLK 200
just clocked up 91000km in mine with no serious problems. been out of warranty now for 18 months and have only put oil and fuel into it.
make sure it has had the gearbox oil changed regularly should be due for its 3rd change with that many Km on it.

Shuup,
I have noticed on this site that some US owned 2008 petrol cars have had problems with the Electronic Ignition Switch .
