4matic coilover questions

I have done some research and have yet to see anyone successfully install any brand coilover suspension on a w204 4matic. I know that RWD and 4matic w204s are very close in spec when it comes to springs and people have successfully installed RWD h&r super sport springs on 4matic vehicles. So my question is why are coils a no go on 4matics and what is the issue?

The issue is the front struts (on the RWD model) had to be moved to allow the front drive axles, and the bottom attachment of the strut is very different.

So it's slim pickings when looking for Engineered front suspension parts for 4MATICS. Only H&R sells 1st stage sport springs, none from eibach. Only Bilstein sells B4 & B6 sport shocks (they'll order from Germany).

Checked H&R and Eibach web sites about coilovers ... nothing. No Koni shocks.

The front is different to the point that eibach only sells their sway bar set for RWD. You could buy a rear bar and it would fit, but this would create excessive oversteer and could break end links, etc. Not recommended.

So Bilstein shocks and H&R drop springs is it so far. Perhaps enough people could put pressure on Eibach to produce a sway bar kit for the 4MATIC, since they have the rear bar and just need to reshape the RWD front bar ... and trim the dia. If someone near Corona California is interested in bars for his 4MATIC, and is willing to work with Eibach (free bars incentive ... ) they may stock a barset for 4MATICS.

.

Upon further research it appears Megan Racing offers a coil over setup for the w204 4matic.

these? Megan Euro-Street, 392 lb/in front, 616 lb/in rear, 1 year warranty

http://www.meganracing.com/products/...=1068&catid=29

That page made no reference to 4MATIC, so it's likely another model.

D2 Racing Coilovers: The web site gives the same part # for RWD and AWD, so perhaps they have both type of mounting systems in their front strut lower bodies.

They note in the description "Excludes c63", but make no mention of 4matic exclusions. I think I will reach out to Megan Racing and see if they can't provide more info.

Megan Racing responded with a negative on a w204 4matic compatibility. It blows my mind that this vehicle has been around since late 07 and not one company aside from kw offers a coil over solution. Especially considering the fronts are the only difference.
