2008 C300 Sprot 4matic
I have to have my front drivers side wheel bearing replaced and was quoted a very high price.
$80 part
$400 labor (4.5 hours)
This seems extremely high to me. Does it really take 4.5 hours to replace a wheel bearing. Looking at parts diagrams it looks like it is right behind the rotor. He was acting like he has to drop the steering column. This just doesn't sound right.
Anyone else ever had a wheel bearing replaced on a c300?

I think I have the same issue...how does it sound like? I haven't asked the service advisor yet. how many miles on your car?

Replacing a wheel bearing is no fun. That sounds about right for the job. The entire wheel spindle has to be removed from the car which means disconnecting it from the suspension, popping off the tie rods and pulling it off the axle. Then pressing out the old bearing and pressing in the new and reinstalling everything. It's a pain in the butt to do and takes a good deal of time.
