Oil Filter Housing Too Tight
Hello everyone! I am trying to do the oil on my car this weekend. I tried to loosen the oil filter cap/housing thing and it would not budge. At first i used my hand. Didnt work. Then i used a plastic wrench tool thing to undo it. Didnt work- kept slipping. Then bought a metal one to loosen it. That one also kept slipping. Im pretty sure the oil filter cap thing had been torqued down to a billion Newton Meters. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!? im thinking about stopping by at a oil changing place to ask them to loosen my filter can and then tighten it down to a normal torque. Any other solutions?? thank you

I've had the same experience. Try putting a thin cloth or towel in between your tool to fill in some of the gaps and to add some grip to the oil cap. Use a hammer and slightly tap on the wrench until it starts loosening.

It can get stuck on the housing a bit though, so be ready to work it back off. It has some built in screws that I think is suppose to help it loosen itself if it does get stuck on the housing (the tool stuck on housing) but not sure how those work.
