Grill Paint advice

I recently bought a 2008 C300 Sport. The exterior of the car is black, and I was looking into painting the grill this afternoon. I was thinking about painting the star on the front matte black, along with the back part of the grill (removing the chrome pieces). I was wondering if anyone had done this, so I could get a few possible ideas with the look? Thank you!

I pulled all the chrome trim off and painted the slats flat black to match the trim around the center star. I thought of blacking out the entire thing but like how the chrome stands out against the flat black. If you don't like it, you can always pull the trim and paint later on.
If I make a change, it will likely be painting a spare luxury grill flat black and installing that.

Plastidip it. If you don't like it just peel it off.

How well does the plastidip stick to unscuffed chrome trim?

Scuffed or unscuffed the plastidip will cover whatever you apply it to. It'll give you a nice texture matte finish. Idiot proof. You can buy some at your local Lowe's or home depot. 2 spray cans would be enough I think.

I scuffed mine with a scotch brite pad from the grocery store. It has been on there for over a year with no problems. I did all the chrome including the star and left the plastic alone. Looks better then an all black grill in my opinion but my car is silver.

If you plastid dip it you only need one can. I did 5 costs with one can. And that was my spare grill with chrome slats covered to and it stuck fine.

Here are some pics of how plastidip looks on my C63 and a friends G37. We did them both ourselves

Ok so I got some quick pics for you. Sorry for the specks on the grill, it's just the dust that kept landing on it.

Overall:

Ended up doing my grill, fog light bezels, back emblem, and tips with plasti dip, and sidemarkers and eyelids with spray tint. Also, I got the windows tinted to 35% (Alabama Law =/).

Going to wrap the chrome today hopefully. Still debating on doing the rims (dont want them to look too cheap until I can buy some new rims).

Also, thinking about tinting the lights with lamin-x but i dont know if it would be too much black.

Ideas, constructive criticism?!

I was going to smoke the mirror blinkers as well.

But with plasti dip I've read that you can still see chrome within the window sill. I was going I se the trimbrite blackout tape. Unfortunately, I will have to order it since none of the auto shops carry it around here.

I did. Actually took the trim off to spray it (upper trim) and I wasn't happy with how it came out. I don't know why but trying twice I couldn't get the results I was looking for (ie the same ones on the grill, emblems, and LED DRL). So I had them wrapped.
