Help, door lock not working

Hi, I just noticed that the front passenger door lock is not working. I wont lock or unlock using either the key fob or any of the door lock switches.

Is there anything I could check or try before ordering a replacement actuator? I read somewhere that some MB cars use a vacuum to operate the door locks and found a suggestion on checking the connectors in the central vacuum pump

Do the 2008 w204 uses a vacuum (if so where is it) or is just an electrical motor? How easy is it to replace it your self?

Thanks for your help!

Have a similar but very intermittent problem with my 08 C300. Has become less frequent after a couple of months; now occurs less than one time in 10 or 20. When problem occurs, neither the remote nor the switches will operate the door locks. Appears to be battery voltage sensitive; raising the battery voltage from its normal 12 volts to 13.5 volts by connecting a battery charger corrects the problem immediately. Replacing battery made no difference.
