I have 2010 c300 , what is happening is that I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor to get engine to start after filling tank. The cars cel has a code of P2422 (evaporative emission system vent valve stuck closed) what is this and where is it located and do you think this is the cause of my problem? Also where to buy if needed. Thanks

 

Could my charcoal canister be bad along with the check valve from overfilling gas tank?

 

I think it shouldn't be a problem to overfill the tank. I have overfilled mine once on a C220 CDI and nothing happened.

 

did anyone come to a resolution to this problem? If replacing both valve and Evap Canister.. does anyone know the part number, and price? and is it something DIY?

I replaced what I believe was called a solenoid vent valve its the one under the hood that solved my problem.

 

Thank you for your reply. So I have the exact same car and problem, and wherever I looked up, P2422 is an issue with Y58/4 shut off valve on the Evap Canister by the rear wheel. But if you say your problem went away by changing Control Valve Solenoid, I will go for it; surely cheaper than replacing the entire canister.
But do you know if it's Intake (Part Number: 2720500478 ) one you replaced or exhaust one (Part Number: 2720500578 from OEdiscountparts.com )??

and was it easy to do DIY?

I am sorry for bugging you on this. but i really gotta fix this problem. That Solenoid control valve, did you mean 0004708893 Purge Valve? If it's not too much trouble, could you take a picture under the hood, please?

I replaced the charcoal canister and the vent valve and that did not cure my problem. I found a 24 hr subscription to Mercedes star maintenance, it was in that that I found mention of the vapor canister purge control valve might be the problem. The part that I'm referring to is right next to the windshield washer reservoir. This is the part that fixed my problem http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j...149694&cad=rja

 

The one on the right side of page in the link. Check your car for exact one, maybe check amazon ect for prices. I know I paid $80.00 or less.

 

Assuming "Elto" means (MOT) purge valve, isn't..?

Hopefully this is not too early to say, but my problem has been fixed as of today.
I received the parts yesterday and immediately worked on it. The work was actually easy, except loosening the fastening band-clip from input hose.

The gas was 1/2 full but i wanted to see if it addressed the hard start issue.
