Can anyone pull a VMI?

Hi W204'ers. I am joining you after 4 years on the W203 side. I just picked up a 09 C350 P2.. back when I bought my 2005 C-class, a member on here was able to send me a VMI that a dealer would not allow me to even see. Is there anyone here that can do this? I am not interested in who the prior owner was, only what was done to the car.

A few times in the past, I have been able to speak with a service advisor at different dealerships prior to even buying a particular used car.
I have not done this at MB but would think they wouldn't have issues with it.

I was told that it was not available, even for my review, per their rules. I understand them wanting to protect the privacy of the prior owner, but it would seem that they could somehow cover that info up. I dunno.

Maybe I am just naive ...but wouldn't a Carfax report show what's been done w/ the vehicle?

The carfax should show body work and maybe major repairs but likely wouldnt have anything about maintainence or warrant work.

Thanks.. when I bought my SL, I asked for a Carfax report which showed things like replaced wipers, battery replaced, oil change, State inspection and that's why I assumed things like that would be listed as well in the Carfax. Actually I was wondering if major expense like ABC fixes would be listed in Carfax . I wouldn't touch AutoCheck since that report is worthless when compared to Carfax.

Carfax is all about where the work was done and if the facility has a contract with Carfax to report the data. As a Carfax insider I can tell you that they get all 50 state reg data, as well as almost all major dealers and insurance agencies. But as far smaller repair shops and such, there are no contracts with them so those repairs go unreported. On the other side, Autocheck has tried to contract the smaller shops but they don't get all 50 state reg data and not all the major dealers.
