Plasti Dip First Timer
I know that many of you have blacked them out completely but I wanted to maintain the chrome strips. At the last minute I decided to white out the front star. I think it looks "ok" but would look better if the chrome strips were whited out also. If I can't pull that off I may just black out the chrome strips and leave the star white or remove the white from the star so that the strips and star are chrome.
FYI: for those who think you have to remove the chrome strips in order to keep from blacking them out, you don't have to. Just spray the dip directly over them. After all is dry, simply start peeling the dip from the edge of each strip and it will come off cleanly.
Peace,
Jake
That seems too good to be true. How this you pull it off so it looks like it was masked ?
Nice look, Nice work!
.
I wouldn't advise doing that simply because you WILL peel the plastidip along with the tape as well. Happened to me the first time i plasti-dipped. But then again, i did it on my body panel. Maybe it's diff for this chrome trim?
As far as masking the chrome and then peeling it once the dip dried, I almost did that. I am glad I didn't as I believe the rest of the dip would peel with it.
I also removed the star "housing" from the grill and then removed the chrome star itself from its housing in order to dip it white. If you don't plan on dipping the star, I recommend removing the star housing from the grill instead of masking it that way you can just go crazy spraying the grill.
