2008 C180K timing chain issue caused bent valves and pistons
Hi All,
I have a 2008 c180k , one morning I started the car, drove for about 3 km and the idle was fluctuating, then a noise from the engine appeared, I stopped the car immediately, the car is currently doing 129000km and I just serviced it at 121200km, mercedes did a diagnostic and found that the valves and pistons are bent and they want a huge cost to fix, is this not there fault, apparently this is common with the MY271 engines, they avoiding the questions of what caused the bent valves and pistons. I then emailed Mercedes-Benz South Africa, they said if it is the timing chain, there will be some sort of good will, please let me know how I can approach this as it seems to an engineering fault.
Thanks
Sash
