Unhappy Lost fuse in engine compartment / fusebox

It's been a rough week for my W204. Earlier this week someone backed into my car in a parking lot, luckily didn't do too much damage. Now today, my COMAND screen stopped opening. Usually, I just reset the COMAND fuse in the engine bay, specifically fuse #26 and it works again. Unfortunately it didn't happen. So i tried a couple times reseating it and seeing if it worked. On the last attempt, i accidentally dropped the fuse in either the fusebox or in the engine compartment (it was dark and couldnt see where it went exactly). Is there a way to remove/lift the fuse apparatus out of the box so i can check under it? if it did drop in the engine compartment, should i be worried about it..? thanks in advance for the input.

If you dropped it in the engine compartment, odds are it will fall onto the ground -- if it hasn't already.

My guess is its laying in on top of one of the under tray fairings.

thanks for the replies. it sounded like a pretty shallow drop so i have a feeling it might be in the fuse box. whats the process to pull the under trays? difficult?

Easy. Just several bolts. No big deal.

I wouldn't... You should always have a variety of spare fuses in your car anyhow.. Just replace it and let it be. And who knows, a new fuse might resolve your COMAND screen problem.

It looks like there might be some spare fuses in my trunk. I just cant figure out why the COMAND screen refuses to open occasionally...

I looked through the COMAND manual and it seems that the only "Troubleshooting" guide there relates ONLY to the voice Control function so I'm sorry but I wouldn't even know where to start on that one.

I am curious though.... When you say the COMAND screen doesn't open does that mean you turn it on, you can hear music/radio (if that was te last function you had on before you turned ignition off) and yet the screen does not pop up? Or is it that nothing comes on?

The COMAND screen refuses to open, but music still plays (last function) and the keys below the screen light up...
