Should I change the oil to be safe?
I bought a 2010 C250 from a Nissan Dealer near my house. Car is clean and I do not have any concerns about maintenance, etc. Nissan did an oil change on it and diduse their synthetic oil. They are no stranger to performance cars such as the 370Z and G37 models. I do not know what brad oil they use. I checked the oil 'hot' and it appears the oil is over the max line... to be sure about correct oil and level, should I just book it in at Benz for a quick oil change? I have a B service coming up in 260 days and I ill redo it then again.

I emailed the sales manager and am waiting to hear back. Dipstick of course has a min and max. I am not only past the max but at the top of the red measure. Checked when engine off for 30 mins.

Nissan recommended oils are typically geared toward fuel economy and hence have low HT/HS viscosity. On the other hand MB 229.5 spec requires HT/HS viscosity to be at least 3.5 cP.
Probably not going to cause a catastrophe in your engine if you were to leave it in there for one oil change interval, but if the car is under warranty, it's probably better that you have a record of the correct oil going in there.

Even MB dealers are notorious for overfilling the engines, especially the 4matic ones which take 1qt less oil than the RWD ones. Every time I let my MB dealer do the oil change, I end up having to extract at least a quart of oil to get it down to MAX level on the dipstick. Otherwise, I get a "Check oil level" warning on the dashboard after extended driving.

I'm going to redo it tomorrow at Mercedes. I don't need to go anywhere today either. Why does MB always overfill??? I see that people all over the place have this happen to them...? What gives? I have a 4Matic BTW.

Now, yours is a 2010, and the literature is correct for this year, so maybe you won't have that problem.

For 2008 and 2009 model years, all the MB literature was showing the wrong oil quantity for the 4matics. Service shops just went blindly by this literature. MB never bothered to correct the literature, so the problem persists.
Now, yours is a 2010, and the literature is correct for this year, so maybe you won't have that problem.

If I'm getting the "check oil level" warning, something is not right. There's always a risk of oil getting into exhaust and prematurely poisoning your cat. New cats are expensive, alas, I think there is an extended emissions warranty on them, at least in the US.

Oh I agree. Question: Do ALL the W204's have a check oil light come on if oil is too high? I guess too high of a level and pressre would be too high? Correct?

I was told today that Nissan used Mobile 1 synthetic. Still an overfill. For some reason I just can't get comfortable with this and am planning on having Mercedes do it properly tomorrow. And what I mean by properly is having them do it and me checking afterwards.

That's my whole point actually... I don't know what's in it. And what if they didn't even put that in? I just blew $30 grand on this car and would rather spend another $200 to sleep better at night.

Nice. Similar situation happened to my dad. And my dad drives SLOW. Like 10 mph under speed limit and he was just going straight. Some 17 year old in a maxima plows right into him. They had to fight for 10 months before finally admitting it was 100% his fault
