transmission service.
So as some of you may know this is my first benz, i have had it almost a month now and i enjoy riding it with a passion. As i was going through the service records i didn't see anything for a transmission service, was this something that was supposed to be done? at what interval? should i rush out and get it ? some people told me if the car is running with the same fluid your better off not changing it because it can start new problems?
Those people who say changing it now will cause problems - are these Honda folks? Honda's transmission nightmares from 1998-2004 with the V6 Accord, TL, etc were more prone to problems if you flushed it. But that transmission was extraordinarily poor in design. This is not true of the 722.9 or any Benz transmission that I know of.
No offense to your friends- but I encounter numerous "mechanics" that know absolutely nothing about a Mercedes. Some are even Mercedes techs (Scary).
The service (if done correctly) may cost $500-$600 at a dealership. I found a local Euro shop that looked at the WIS and quoted me $350-$400 using the OEM parts/fluids, but that was an extremely LOW quote.

MB is very clear on this service every 40,000 miles for best transmission durability and performance.
