Can Someone Please Explain This (Tires)

See picture

C300

Rear tires inflated to 34 psi

The tire wears out like it's under-inflated (http://www.rpmdaily.co.uk/wp-content...e-pressure.jpg)

Tried increasing pressure to 36 psi, tire still looks the same

Someone please chime in before I have to get new tires

Thank you

I assume you have staggered wheels. This is a problem with cars where you cannot rotate the tires. There will always be some sort of uneven tread wear and the tires do not last as long. You didn't mention lowering your car and that can do it also.

Is this on all the tires or just the rear?

Only on the rears (both). Stock suspension, not lowered. Staggered wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, stock size.

I understand uneven wear due to changes in suspension or worn struts, bad alignment, etc. but this does not look like it.

Am on my mobile, so the pic is a little hard to see.
It looks like the center is worn more than the sides? If so, you're over-inflated, not under...

This is exactly what happens when tires cannot be rotated. If you pulled mine I bet the same thing....

How about side-to-side rotation? Will that reduce the wear a little? I thought about doing that but never did.

They are wearing like this. I am pretty sure swapping left and right will not do anything.

Is this your first set of tires? If this has happened on other sets of tires and perhaps different brands then it's likely you will need to roll 36-38psi and this might have to do with the climate you drive in. Not that it makes a huge difference at our driving speeds but you can also try filling with nitrogen instead. If this is your first set of tires it may just simply be the tires you have. Likely more so the wrong psi for your climate but it could be.

Treadwear has a lot to do with staggard tires, driving conditions, psi and how you drive your car... I had a G35 once that used to just shred tires and I realized it's just how I drive.

My thoughts? Determine what kind of driver you are, your warm/cold climate, and what you want out of a tire. Buy a step up from what you need and the tires should always out perform your expectations. Have the tire shops set your psi digitally because the small ones are not as acurate.

Good luck and update when you figure out what you are going to do. Maybe time to update to an 18 inch rim with better tires... just a thought
