I notice a huge diff in acceleration from a dead stop with auto vs manual. Even in s mode my 2012 c 300 feels a little slow to kick in the acceleration. Any suggestions? Manual mode makes this disappear btw.

You can try a sprint booster. It changes the acceleration curb of the throttle to a more linear one.

but is that normal for the c 300? Anyone else feel this way? If the manual feels so much quicker, is it just that the auto doesn't shift properly? I don't want to mod the car and it's not that bad but something I notice (man vs auto).

It's a fundamental issue due to the way standard torque converter auto transmissions operate.

It's a different story for twin clutch type auto transmissions whether they be dry or wet clutch types.

With the newer MB MY'13 release of AMG 'sport plus' option package they re-assessed the software to try and make it shift as quickly as possible for the standard autos and it is quicker but only slightly.

Eventually all new models will have twin clutch autos and slow shifts will be a thing of the past

aznmode is right. If you get the sprint booster you will notice a difference. But the reality is that if you push the pedal all the way down, even in auto mode it will do the same as in manual. Benz's are weird when it comes to how much you have to push the pedal vs the response you get...
