Curb Rash - Repairable?

Hey all,

I'm considering buying a set of C63 wheels for my C300. They have some minor curb rash, how much do you think this would cost to repair?
Here is an album of the wheels.

That's nothing... A good rim repair shop can fix that easily. I have had lots of rims way way worse than that be refinished like new. Actually they look better than new. Even bent rims can be fixed. You are not in Vancouver but I use a place called Panther Wheels which a good friend of mine works at. They are no dinky shop and whenever I am there a cars much more higher end are there.... To fix those I would guess $150 per wheel. They have to refinish the whole wheel to do it properly.

Here's the link. Give them a call and they may have an affiliate in your area or you can ship to them. http://www.pantherwheels.ca/

Tip: With those rims that you have DO NOT use a mobile guy or something like that... It's junk. Get them done right.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks, do you think $1800 is too much for these?

I have had model 810 from these guys for a couple of years and they are great, but here is a new design gaining popularity. Take a look at the numbers and then decide what you think is the best value.

Yeah those are very nice. But the iconic C63 wheels are really good looking to me.

Yes I do. There are a ton of rims around that you can buy brand new for less than that. In my opinion, go aftermarket and get something that sets your car apart from the other million out there. A real nice 18 or 19 inch with rubber might be around that same price. No need to go super high end for $5,000 either... we are not driving track cars or high end exotics.

What colour is your car?

White, I'm not very impressed by too many aftermarket wheels. I like an iconic look more so than an aftermarket "unique" look.

My car is white as well. I know what you mean about some aftermarket wheels and their appeal. However, I like a few and drool over them.

Okay, so if I were you and didn't like the aftermarket idea. I would look at that link above and go with a 19 inch rim and tire. 245 all around on a 19 inch rim would be awesome and still OEM.

Does the $1,800 include rubber? If so, what's the tread like?

I was seriously considering that set, so maybe that's what I'll do. Still have time to decide, as these wheels will be my summer wheels, and my current ones will be winter wheels.

EDIT: And the $1800 does have tires, they have 20 000km on them, so not the best tread.

Again, I agree, but the place I got my C63 reps uses high quality sources with JWL and TUV certification which also supply OE customers. The wheels I have look very much like the wheels you are considering at over 3 times the price, plus damage repair equal to another whole set of mine!

Okay yea... scrap this idea. You are looking at about $2,200 after you fix them. Sportstick's option for the replica's is far better than this. Go for a 19 inch and you will have a sweet summer wheel...

Cheers,

Adam
