Dealer say's silverstar bulbs can burn out socket?
Went to Mercedes dealer yesterday to have silverstar lowbeam bulbs installed. Dealer said he would do it for free but told me he had a couple of cars come back after installing them with burned out wiring and/or socket. $400 non-warranty repair. Anyone hear of this?

If you are running the same 55W bulb, I can't imagine how a Silverstar would run any hotter...kinda sounds like they are opportunistically voiding warranty coverage.
Either way, you should try to change your own bulbs. It's actually pretty easy and you can find some DIY info on here. Just be sure not to touch the bulbs with your bare hands (the oil from your hands transfers to the bulb's glass which holds in the heat causing them to run hot and fail early).
