Tire reccomendations needed
I have a 2012 C300 sport with Michelin pilot tires. I'm looking for new all-season tires that deliver a softer and quieter ride. Willing to sacrifice handling to achieve this. I probably should have bought the luxury model instead of the sport. Any suggestions?

I went with the DWS and definitely achieved what you are looking for. Much quieter and soft ride. Only issue I've had is that I burned through the front tires in about 30k miles due to the demanding driving here in the Washington DC area. I ran the edges bald just about with all the high speed on and off ramping commuting in and out. The rears are still doing well with minimal wear and tear.
I am also considering what me next tires should be.

You might have an alignment problem if you're burning through your edges quickly. I had the same problem with my nitro invos till I got the car realigned. As for tires, dws suit you for all season, also read up on tire rack, defiantly lots of useful info there.

Just as there are sports cars, sports sedans, and luxury sedans, there are also a variety of segments of tires. DWS are great tires, no doubt. I put them on my wife's E350, and they are tailored for her tastes. But, they are Ultra High Performance All Seasons, although among the smoothest and quietest in that segment. However, from what you are writing, your desires may be for another tire segment with a different set of standards. I suggest you look at Grand Touring All Season, such as Bridgestone Turenza Serenity Plus, which did extremely well on quiteness and ride comfort on tirerack.com testing. Even if you have a staggered 17" setup, you can use all four 225/45-17 on your rear 8.5" rims. They don't make a 245/40-17, but that tire did well enough to deserve your interest.
BTW, you did not mention, but if you have 18" rims, that tire size is a good bit of your issue. Just moving to 17" will help noticeably....more compliant rubber, less hard metal wheel, within the same overall diameter package. Think of more doughnut, less hole, but same size overall.

I just replaced the OEM Contis on my wife's car with a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX's on the OEM 17" staggered AMG wheels and the ride definitely became much softer.
Haven't driven the car much after the fact, but seems like at least my wife is happy and since it is her baby, that's the main thing for me.
But yeah, I'm sure a lot of the purists around here probably consider what I did as blasphemy, but that's okay. Just throwing this out there as a suggestion. I've used Kumhos for many years in many different vehicles and have always been happy with them.
