Guide to remove rear shocks?
Anyways, the shop floor manager wanted to remove the shock to inspect it since he thought it might be the culprit. After raising the car he saw that it was not as simple as loosening a few bolts to remove the shock absorver. There is no easy access from the trunk to the top of the shock unless they took all the trim of the trunk. He told me that it would take more time to do it so I thought that it would be better to take it to te dealer instead.
Is there a guide on how to replace the rear shocks on a w204? I cant seem to find one.
Remove rear load compartment sill trim, two plastic 10mm nuts, unscrew about 5mm.s but leave them there
Pull the load sill trim upwards with a firm, hard yank, it will sound horrible but it will come off.
Loosen the trunk trim left or right by loosening about 6 plastic expander plugs and the rear plastic hook near the light unit.
Loosen the two bottom steel hooks with a torx socket after removing the plastic lids.
Fold rear seat forward
pull out the trim starting from the top rear, you will need to guide it around the trunk lid hinge and spring, dont forget to unclip the light unit
Loosen the two top shock nuts
loosen the lower control arm bolt holding the shock
Compress shock and fold it out.
Install in reverse order.
