Saw this camoflauged car on the 405 today. Apologize for the picture quality. My son is 13 and has a terrible phone.

It did look alot like a cla. But it looked taller and larger. And the headlights and tail lights looked slightly different. Lastly, if it is a cla, why the camoglauge still? I thought those are already at dealerships, no?

Tail lights are definitely CLA.
If it were another model, they wouldn't share the same tail light assemblies.
It looks bigger/bulkier because of the built up cammo layers, but IMO it's a normal (non AMG) CLA.

I think Vic may be on to something. It's more likely a test mule for the W205.
There is no reason to be running a camouflaged car around with the whole world (or at least those that are interested) already knowing exactly what the new model looks like. It's been at shows, tested in magazines, etc for way to long for MB to be going to the trouble.

I for one certainly hope the next C Class dosn't have same/similar features to the new A Class range.

Porsche Macan S SportDesign / Ex M-B's: 11 & 10 & 06 E350's, 02 S500
Unfortunately lots of aspects from the nu-FWD M-B models (A/B/CLA) are prevalent all over the range of upcoming M-B's.
The next gen C actually looks identical to the W222 S (you can tell by revealing spy pics), same exact taillights (those thin kind of old-school looking lights that are separated from the deck lid), same exact character lines, etc. The W204 was such a home run (save for the pre-faclift atrocity of an interior) I hope they don't screw it up. A mini-S wouldn't be right as the C should look much sportier and more youthful than the S' design, which the W204 nailed however while still keeping it mature and relatively classy enough to be worthy of being a bonafide "Mercedes".

actually if you look more closely at the spy pics, i think the basic lines of the W204 are pretty much intact, including side profile and all. Its just the front and rear that will be S class like. How MB will do those oval S class type brake lamps will remain to be seen though.
The architecture, proportions and shape seem very much like the W204's though, which makes sense as the W222's architecture and proportions and shape are all almost identical to the W221. It's the details that are much differed.

The side lines will be that unfortunate "reverse wedge" trend M-B is trying to continuously push onto their cars though, which will probably be identical to the W222's and unlike the W204's more natural (natural because these are cars with inherent wedge shaped architecture) wedge shaped lines.

I dont think its a mule; the prototype C classes are running around all over Europe; whats the point of a mule at this stage. Now if this was a year ago, then yes..a mule would make sense. The W205 is pretty much finalized from what i can see of the new spy shots that came out today.
