Activating DVD Player

Activating DVD Player
I have a 2013 C300 that came with NAV but no DVD player. I find it hard to believe that they make any CD drive that isn't able to play DVD disks as well in 2013. Is there a way to activate the DVD player in the engineering menu on my car?
My three thoughts are,
1. Maybe the CD hardware really only plays CDs (highly doubtful).
2. The LCD screen doesn't support the definition required but it does look identical to the ones in the cars that do play DVDs.
3. It may be disabled by the software on the hard drive or the hardware requires a different software version, being a programmer I wouldn't mind tweaking it but it is a lease so I really don't want to.

Which Nav do you have?
On a 2013, if you have the full COMAND system in the multimedia package (6 disc changer, 7" High Res in dash screen, Backup Camera), you will have the ability to play DVDs. If you have the Becker Map Pilot (the glovebox mounted one), it doesn't have the hardware as it is just an add-on to the base audio 20 system.

If it is any consolation, the DVD player is locked out unless you are parked (unless you modify the vehicle). I think I have used mine once in the past 16 months.
I had a loaner with the Becker system a while back. It was actually pretty slick.
