- The Neuxs 7 v2 runs off the data of my galaxy s4.
- I have Torque Pro connected to my ECU via bluetooth to get real time information
- I use my tablet for music as well (via bluetooth) I use google music, rdio etc.

looks good!

Yeah, nice, exactly what's on the aftermarket screen of my M3 - with TorquePro. Is the tablet hooked up to the stereo at all except via Bluetooth (a lose-lose situation IMO)?? Did you DIY or is there a commercial holder?

Hey Bill, the tablet is via Bluetooth only, the reason is because all my music is streamed from internet connection so the quality isn't great to begin with. However I do have my iPod kit on the way with the correct amp you showed me. (Thanks for that) can't wait to play some apple loss less with my iPod classic. The holder is my DIY version 1 looks crappy but version 2 will be better :rolf:

Great, I am just about to do something like that myself, maybe for a Galaxy tablet. Torque Pro is just too much, right? Amazing how little % you use of your engine! Hope you don't get too distracted while driving.

I did a lot of research about the tablets plus I work for a wireless carrier, basically it came down to the nexus 7 2013 or iPad mini. I got the new nexus 7 in the end due to its $200 price range and 1920x1200 screen. I never use the Torque app maybe sometimes to impress my friends. My engine was on idle BTW xD.

can you elaborate a little bit more about the ipod kit w/ correct amp? interested in doing a similar setup... thanks

Acapulco Bill 08-02-2013 01:13 AM

@mmike: send me a personal message or start a new thread, glad to help.

What ECU bluetooth device did you guys use for the Torque program. I was using some cheap generic one I purchased off ebay... it didn't last very long. Your post reminded me of it... I'd like to get a new one.

i had this in my car before i retrofitten the NTG4 COMAND but in the end nothing beats the NTG4 with a video module :)

OBDII module that works great in my M3 (in another country, one is arriving to Mexico for my W204). Works great with TorquePro on an Android smartphone:

Wow those look really good.

MFDONTRON 08-04-2013 12:04 AM

Yup, that'll be my next investment lol.

I have this one, works great for me

EuRo_C300 08-11-2013 12:28 PM

I just ordered mine. I need to make my self a holder. How did you make yours? Are you still with version 1 ? :)

I'm still rocking ver 1. Hasn't came up with an idea for ver 2. I used a triangle tube to hold my N7 in place then just double sided tape to finish the job

snowmuch 08-12-2013 02:53 AM

Detailed picture of my DIY mount.

Next is to figure out how bluetooth backup camera works, and how to place the wireless charging adapter behind that screen :y

Drazil 08-12-2013 09:06 AM

it would be cool if you can buy the mount for the pop up monitor and hook up the Nexus7 to that...

Acapulco Bill 08-12-2013 10:26 AM

That would require replacing a good part of the dash. This way snowmuch can just unplug it and tote the Nexus 7 where he wants. I think its a GREAT install.

After seeing firsthand how tacky the Nav screen looks in the A/CLA and current BMW products (where it is just stuck onto the dash as an afterthought) snowmuch's solution at least look integrated into the dash and when the Nexus 7 is removed, looks great with the screen door closed. Great job, snowmuch!

Drazil 08-12-2013 11:36 AM

oh, I thought both monitors fit into the same spot in the dash just one is small and the other swings a larger monitor out and all he'd have to do is install the rail mechanism that swings the bigger monitor up on a 90. Of course, if the rail mount and the larger monitor came as one unit then it wouldn't be cost-effective.

i saw in another thread where someone removed the smaller display and installed it into the ashtray location, freeing up the monitor location for a larger aftermarket display (which in OPs case would be the Nexus 7).

Thanks Bill! :y

Acapulco Bill 08-12-2013 12:03 PM

Safety issue, the W203 had the screen very low. Imagine in the ashtray trying to read directions or tune your radio. We need more "heads-up" solutions, there is actually a GPS you put on top of the dash and it projects on the windscreen.

Drazil 08-12-2013 12:30 PM

As opposed to currently being hidden behind the nexus 7? obviously not much use to that small screen, so kind of irrelevent where it is at this point.... what about if he's in a collision and the Nexus 7 becomes a projectile only being secured by gravity and those two brackets? I mean we can "safety" this to death and find reasons not to do anything.

The current setup looks great, is unobtrusive, and has an oem look. I was just suggesting to take the oem look a step further by purchasing the rail system that works for the big screen, and mount the N7 to that so it can swivel up and down. While you got that space open could also take the opportunity to fish some power and hide it behind there as well.
