2008 C350 - look AMG
New Tires size
To all Experts,
I have a newly purchased C350 - 2008 with AMG sport package / tyres and it has continental tires size: 225/40/ZR18 92Y XL (FRONT)
255/35 ZR18 94Y XL (REAR)
Everyone advised me that I need to change all 4 wheels because they are worn and they have been since the car was purchased back in 2008.
Question is that all top brand tires are expensive aroun 1100+ $ like Michelin and Bridgestone / Pirelli. However we have low budget tires with is as they say a joint-venture between Bridgestone and a turkish tire company called Lassa and they said that they use same tire technology and the 4 tires will cost me around 520 $. But the thing is that they have the same sizes except they are not "Y" and not "XL" they are:
225/40/18 W (FRONT)
225/35/18 W (REAR)
If I installed these would there be any effect on speed/performance/safety?
Regards,
Saad

You're limited to 168mph. And without a load index it's hard to say, but the lowest would be 750 pounds per tire, assuming its a low index of 70. More than likely its somewhere around 85 making it around 1100 pounds. You should be fine assuming you're not going over the speed rating of the tire, w=168mph.
Just remember cheap tires are not going to give you the same performance, they might be louder too.
