39k Trans Service Adventure Begins

Called the local dealership where I purchased vehicle. Asked about the cost of the tranny service and it's 410. Okay, but service writer says she will check to see if that includes TC drain. She calls back and said she spoke to shop foreman and that there is no way to drain TC. I just asked her to schedule my appointment and indicated that I'll bring the WIS documentation with me. I plan to ask them to either do the job properly or only charge me 2/3 the price for the work. Will let all know what happens. I have been happy with the service experience previously so maybe they will get with the program.

I don't think there is any point not having the proper flush done.

All opinion states that a flush should be done every 39,000 miles.

Why compromise the long term wellbeing of your transmission with only having a drain & paying a few bucks less.

Surely there is an experienced workshop relatively handy that will do the correct job .

I would cancel the appointment & go elsewhere as your dealer does not have the willingness , technical ability, equipment & tools to do the job.

If my brother (infiniti Tech) can do the TC drain when he did the trans service on my 09 and all I have to show him is a picture on how to access it, I'm pretty sure any MB mechanic will be able to drain the TC as well, if not take it to a different MB dealer.

Update Transmission Service

Update:

Spoke to local dealership after dropping car off yesterday. SA indicated there was ABSOLUTELY no drain plug on TC and then verified that with the shop foreman. BUT, SA indicated they would look into it further once they had the car on the lift. Left dealership thinking this was just customer "servicing", but wanted to give them a chance to make the situation right and then I would formulate next steps.

Today SA calls and said that my car does have a drain on the TC and they drained it, and they will need to charge for a few additional units of fluid--indicated no problem with that as I just wanted all the fluid changed. Additionally, I reported the "soft shift" between 2-3 on warmup that occurs occasionally. SA indicated they updated the tranny software and they believe that will address the concern. We will see.

SA mentioned that my tranny has blue fluid and that all did after a certain point in 2010, I believe. I was under the impression that the blue fluid was only for the 7G Plus with start/stop? Any comments?
