UMI, UCI, or MIP?
Alright everyone, I need some help. I've searched this forum and other forums but I can't find definitive answers to my questions.
I have a 2009 C300 with the MM package (motorized door), HK, and Ipod kit. I've seen advertisements for the Media Interface Plus and the UCI (Same as UMI?).
Will the Media Interface Plus allow me to control my iPod via the COMAND controls and not just the steering wheel controls? I saw some mention of a "password" that is entered into COMAND when it's installed, so I thought maybe it enables that type of control in the software.
If the Media Interface Plus doesn't enable COMAND controls, I'll have to go with the UCI. Is this the same as the UMI? The installation doesn't look too horrible; is there anything I should be aware of?

Hi, I don't know what else is out there but when my car was new in early 2009 I used a UK company called Comand Online to install my iPod control system. There was nothing else then. This works via the Comand control knob and all IPod functions are shown and usable on the 7 inch Comand screen (as well as in the small dashboard display for when you're using the Nav function).
They supply the kits outside of the UK I believe but they do need to be set up using the MB "Stars" system. Works for me - I'm well satisfied.

I'm pretty sure the Media Interface Plus actually plugs into this and adds bluetooth, but I don't care about that. It's ~$680 without the proper USB/iPod cables, unless I can find a used one from a salvage yard or something, plus I have to tear apart the dashboard to install it. Part of me just wants to buy a new E-class lol.

Me too, an E400 wagon with the new twin turbo 60 degree V6, should do 0 to 60 in five seconds flat. They are selling in Mexico and China already!
