The Retrofit source HID problem

I have '11 c300 and I recently installed retrofit source hid kit. Everything was going good until last week my drivers side bulb wouldn't turn on but only at weird times. When I'm parked in a garage or next to a building, just the passenger side turns on but if I'm out in the open, both turn on. I've tried not having the lights on the "A" setting and doing it Manual and still the problem exists.
I've taken the bulbs out and switched the ballasts and cables too
Anyone experiencing these problems?

Nope, have you tried contacting TRS directly about it? Did you get a Canbus compatible kit?

Yeah I've been talking back and forth with them and yes I got the canbus kit. What gets me is that it only happens when it's in a building or parked by a wall; which is mostly in the day

If it's not on A then it can't be your sensor unless your light switch is faulty also so it's actually on A even when it's not, did that make sense?

Yeah sorta haha but what gets me is that it's only my drivers side headlight that has the problem.

Dunno then, I find the W204 build quality iffy though I've heard it depends on where it was built? For our car we have/had electrical issues from melting tail light harness to the light control turning on the euro park lights even when it's positioned at O.

Also lately it's developed a self locking issue randomly even though I checked through the dash that the option was not activated. It might be my car being mad at me cuz I let her get dirty

I have had the same problem with my '11 c300. I have changed my HID bulbs like 4 times and after about a month of them in the driver side starts to flicker but you cant notice it unless your looking at it closely. Then usually one of the bulbs turns white as compared to the normal blueish color. Its gotten to the point where im done with them and going to put my stock bulbs back in.

So when you switched the ballasts and bulbs around it didn't have this problem? If not then there may be a connection issue on the problem side. Could be a bad ground or connection. Have you checked the fty wiring?

I talked to TRS today and they said its a problem with 2013/2014 models and some 2011 models. They recommend the H7 relay with resistor links. They said that should solve the problem. I will check back in on Monday and let everyone know the outcome

I also just started having a similar problem with one of the sides of theretrofitsource kit on my 2010.

Everything ran well for several months. Then, all of a sudden my passenger side started behaving erratically, particularly when set to "A" or auto mode and I enter parking garages or dark, enclosed spaces. One side flickers, comes on at delayed times, or sometimes does not come on at all.

I wonder if we are having ballast related issues?

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me. So hopefully this new resistor they are sending me out will help. They said it would. I'll let you know though

Got the resistors today, installed....after much frustration lol but everything seems to work. I'd say contact them and ask to swap out to get the resistors

Glad the new resistors worked out for you! Does this replace the error cancelling units that they provide?

Yes. Just a swap out and and adding the resistor and grounding a few wires.

That's a bummer. Did you try replacing any of the ballasts or error cancellers?

Order from NovaHID.com

I have these and they are perfect. They simply work and look awesome. Julian is the owners name and you can say Adam sent you.

Cheers,

A.

That's partially not surprising as the w204 has a weird electric system. At the same time Matt at TRS is usually pretty good at trouble shooting these issues.
