2009 e-class or 2011 c-class
I just got a word that my 09 c300 might get written-off and started to scout a possible replacement. I found a 09 e350 with only 32k on the motor, all the toys inside with the AMG exterior styling for only $34k. I also found a 2011 c350 4matic with all the options for the same price and has 28k on the motor.
Which is better on your opinion?
Both cars are CPO.

2010 C300, 2013 C63 AMG
I'm not familiar with the W212's, but if they ever had problems, mechanically, it would probably be the first year, 2009. Therefore, I'd say play it safe with the 2011 C-Class.
Btw, for 3-4k more you might be in 09 C63 Territory if it affects your decision.

Everyone is focused on the cars and not the driver! I own a C and E, both have been very reliable, but the experiences are very different! How "old at heart" are you? When I get into the heavier, softer, larger E, I immediately feel about a decade older and know I'm going for a "ride"; when I get in the C, I am "driving" (although mods and stick play a role). I assume you have or will drive both. Pick the one which feels right, but they certainly will not feel the same.

In general id always go with the newer model year car unless its a first year production, which in this case it is not.
But even more important is what is your intended use, do you need the room of an E over the C , do you want the increased MPG of a C over a E ? You need to make those decisions.
Im in a C class because:
1. I wanted something that still got reasonable good MPG but remained sporty and comfortable
2. I drive 135 miles a day 5 -6 days a week to commute by my self , so I did not need the room
3. Occasionally I have my wife or friends / sons in the car for a outing, so I decided I wanted a sedan (used to have a G37s coupe and there were times I wanted to take more than 2 adults and that rear seat was useless.
4. wanted the smaller car feel with some level of sportiness
5. was able to still retain the comfort / quiet and overall quality of car that MBZ is known for with the C
Im in a C 250, have owned infiniti M45s, G 37s, Lincoln LS V8, Tauris SHO, Mustangs, 911s and a Prius. Right now the C 250 gives me what I need, good MPG, comfort and still puts a smile on my face if I get into it in the canyons and I like the way it looks.

I would say I like the car to handle well and fast and it is my everyday car. I don't really care about the gas as I have a GLK and Van that eats up more gas that the C. I do have to use it to carry potential clients around maybe 1-2 a week so presentation is also a key . I also put a car seat on it when I feel not driving the GLK or the van and I am only 32.
I do find the current c-class to fit the bill but if I will be given a opportunity to get a e-class why not. I am just not familiar with the W211 and it's headaches or if it is even worth it.

Both those prices seem pretty high to me, Id keep searching around for a while.
Personally I would go with the E because I really like the design of the w211's but when it comes down to it both are great cars, its your personal preference that truly maters
Good luck with which ever you choose, just make sure to do a good amount of research prior to purchase. The forum is a great tool when buying a used car to make sure you make the right choice the first time.

That's fine, but this is similar to saying, I like chocolate but have the opportunity to get strawberry. That's also fine if you happen to like strawberry. One is not better than the other...they are different and you should really be sure you like the one you decide to buy.

Hi guys,
Just a related question here for those who have/have had both C and E class cars. From the maintenance/service cost perspective, are they more or less the same or E costs more?
Just to have an idea about these for my own knowledge....
Personally I like the smaller size and the "drive" feel of C class, but I always have an eye on E class as well. Since they now have the the Star integrated into the front grille, it looks sportier too. May be something for the future.
Thanks!

I have 2011 C300 and 2013 E350, the E is so much larger than the C. with the C, I have trouble fitting my son's booster seat (britax frontier 85) and still give him any leg room (I'm 6' tall). with the E, he has plenty of leg room (so won't be constantly kicking my back and complaining).
