Whats involved in the B5 service?
Just got a notice saying I need my B5 service. Whats involved? Anything unnecessary that I can tell them not to bother with to save a little? Thx!

first of all the maintenance code is longer then a B5 but only the dealer can see the full code so we don't know what has to be done.
you want to save some money now by skipping maintenance but pay more later on because you skipped some checks at one point?
not to mention your maintenance log will scare of potentional buyers later on

Your service booklet should tell you about what is required for B5.
Apart from yearly/2 yearly planned maintenance ,it will depend on your mileage.
I suggest everyone should take a real interest in when & what is serviced in their car.
You can them make the correct decisions on what you want & what you want to leave out.
Good luck,

The main reason I ask is because I had the vehicle serviced a year ago through Mercedes and it then went into storage for the whole year as I was out of the country. However, when I pulled it out of storage recently, it is telling me that the B5 service is 340 days past due. I was under the impression that the vehicle only needs servicing every year or 20,000km, so it doesn't add up. Thus why I wanted to know what was involved to see if they ****ed up my original service before I put the car away.

Check with them whether they reset your service indicator after the last service. .
You can reset the service indicator yourself.

If the car has not put any miles on & only needs a A service then only the oil & filter may need to be done.
Get to know your car & check the power steering & brake fluid level, & top up the washer fluid yourself. Saves money & you know its correct.

In case anyone sees this thread now. I found this link helpful: https://www.mercedesbenzofdenver.com...b-service-.htm
Basically a "B-service" is just a regular oil change, air filter change, and brake fluid change.

Please see Post #1 in the below thread to see what the A/B services entail:

A B5 would be:
Brake Fluid + Air Filter + Spark Plugs
