2008 Mercedes Benz C300 4matic Sport
Main seal leak

My 2008 C300 Sport 4Matic with 59,000 miles has a main seal leak. It drips about a drop every minute or so and there's a small, fresh oil stain on my garage floor after two weeks. I have a few questions: are C300 4Matics in particular prone to developing such leaks? Is it particularly difficult to take out the 4Matic to repair the seal? What is a fair price for this repair? Thanks in advance.

Is it the seal between the engine and trans?

I had the same issue and i took it in and it cost me 1700 because mine was a rear leak, they had to take out the transmission out of the car to fix it. took about 2 days to get my car back.

Mine was leaking, too. That was at about 50K miles. Luckily, my extended warranty paid for it.

Yes, the leak is between the engine and transmission. I believe the actual leak is further inside, around the crankshaft, and it leaks from there down to the actual perimeter of the engine housing/transmission housing which is not meant to be a seal in a leak (correct me if I'm wrong).

I had that problem too, luckily when my mechanic picked it up it was still in its early stages and my car was still under warranty. But as Mirvetk stated it is pricey to repair. Btw my car was only at around 28k miles when the issue developed.
