Been thinking about upgrading in the near future.

I currently own an E46 BMW 3 Series and thinking about rather getting into an W204 instead of the E90/F30 3 Series.

I just have a few basic questions.

What I love about the E46 is that there is a very large online community and there is basically a DIY guide on any issues you may encounter. So how is the W204 in terms of DIY ease? I normally NEVER take my vehicle to the dealer EVER and do all the maintaince and repairs myself. Just wondering how this vehicle is DIYable.

What are some issues I should look out for. Is the C250 a better option because the transmission has a lower chance of failure? I would go with a manual however there are hardly any manual W204 in my area.

community and DIY's are a bit better for the BMW.
we have a E92 here beside the 2 mercs and i really hate that car.
its like most BMW's of the last 20 years really really overhyped and it brakes down more then a 50 year old ford...

my friends have really been hating their bmws....for maintenance issues... but if i had to choose between an F30 3 series or a w204...i would go for the F30...it looks nice and aggressive imo.

id go f30, more room for mods. the 204 seems to be getting more dead as the days go on. i love mine just wish their was more mods.
