Speedometer light "on"

I can see my car from inside the house and recently (twice) i've found the light on the speedometer display (only) was "on". Why this light comes on and is there a way to prevent that from happening or am i having a fault? Thanks for your input, J.P.
I think I should mention, I always use keyless go and use the outside of the handle touch to lock the car….

I don't have keyless go so I am just guessing. Do you think your key is close enough to the car while you are inside the house to "wake up" the speedometer?
My speedometer is the only thing that lights when you open the door and is useful to allow one to check the odometer without having to insert the key.
Maybe this is something similar?

It is a possibility and I am looking at it. Thanks a lot for your input. Just hope it will not drain the battery but I doubt since this light draw probably little power...
