Finally gotta take my 2008 in for the tranny service....
Got just about 37k miles...
Ideally I would like to spend about $250 at a minimum (which i have hear is the absolute low end for w204 transmission service) and $350 at a maximum, which seems reasonable after the research I have done on these forums...
If anybody has any good tips or recent coupons as of November 2013 and just came back from a a good experience using them, hook it up and post em here!

I do not have the coupon from Caliber Motors (Anaheim Mercedes) anymore, They used to send to me the coupon $299.00 for transmission service. I told my SA @ Fletcher Jones of the coupon, FJ honor the $299 transission service (even I do not have the coupon with me). Give Caliber a call, they might still have $299 promotion.

cool thanks, just from googling around, I found the $299 special as well at their close competitor Laguna Niguel:

Also found an A service for $138 which isnt too bad since I need an oil change as well...

Any combo transmission + oil change deals out there that give you more savings?

I'm looking to do my transmission service and located in OC.
Can someone please confirm/recommend a dealer or indy shop that drains the torque converter as part of the transmission service? Seems like a few I've called around (Foothill, Laguna, Fletcher) do not do the full service as Glynn posted.
Thanks!

they ALL mentioned that there has been a service update released and that they were told by MBUSA to specifically NOT drain the torque convertor... I spoke to the people in the service department who had to check with the manager and call me back for 2 of the 4 I checked, but they all confirmed the same thing....
Now they all did say that it could be done no problem, but it would be at my request and NONE of them included it in their standard "transmission service" price for my model.
They basically would charge the additional oil at $20 per quart and then an additional 1-1.5 hrs of labor at $150/hr if I wanted this done, since they all said it wasn't necessary per the latest service release or whatever...
I didn't want to drop another $250 for them to drain the torque convertor, so I took their "advice" since they all said it wasn't necessary.
They all accept each others coupons, so that $249 one I posted above is the best price going from San Diego to Santa Barbara and the one I ended up using.
Yes sure I would love my torque convertor drained according to what Glynn posted, however the cost benefit of another $250 isn't worth it to me since so many dealers say its not really necessary....
And unfortunately I didn't want to bother with going to my Indy cus I needed a rental for the day I dropped off my car, so for $249 I didn't feel like I was ripped off to bad by the stealership

I am also in SoCal, none of theses MB dealers (HOI, Anaheim MB, Fletcher Jones) do what Glynn mention. They ONLY drain the fluid (NOT drain the converter), replace the transmission's pan gasket, filter, refill (4-5 quarts). That's it. I do not know any other MB dealer on SoCal do differently (from $299 to $399). The INDY quote me $450 to do the whole thing (they said somewhere 9-10 quarts of fluid), but the INDY do not have VMI (update), so I choose to have MB dealer do it (just in case the transmission going BAD, I have the proof), so far, so good @ 72K miles.
My exact same reasoning in my decision and experience with soCal dealers
Glynn's technique must only apply to a specific region of dealers, definitely not in So Cal and definitely not for $249-$300
